Section 8.  Test Centre

The Preferred Test Centre is the Grammar School where you would like your child to sit the entrance test.

Please be aware that there may be limited testing places at some Test Centres and your child may need to sit the test at an alternative venue.

If a Test Centre reaches its maximum capacity, then ALL spaces at that Test Centre will be allocated by gender and distance i.e. those living closest to the Test Centre will be given priority.  Any overspill of candidates for that Test Centre will be allocated to a gender appropriate Test Centre closest to the child's home address.

The location of your Test Centre will not affect your child's chances of getting a place at any of the grammar schools provided you specify which of the grammar schools you wish to share your child's result with at registration.

Once your application is submitted changes to your Preferred Test Centre are not permitted.

However, your Preferred Test Centre will be allocated providing capacity allows.

Please note if your child is allocated to a different Test Centre and you have not included that school as one of your shares you will not receive a result for that school.

Please be aware that the Test Centre for your son/daughter will be allocated after the close of registration. The decision will be made by the Trafford Grammar Schools’ CEM Consortium. In the event a Test Centre reaches its maximum capacity then all spaces will be allocated by distance from your child's main residence to the nearest Test Centre with space available.

A letter with details of the examination day (including the allocated Test Centre), an Attendance Form and a Special Circumstances Form will be posted to you by Thursday 5 September 2019. Please contact your allocated Test Centre if you do not receive an information pack by Tuesday 10 September 2019.

Please remember on the day of the test your child must bring the Attendance Form with a photograph attached and stamped by their Primary School in order to sit the entrance test.

After the close of registration at 12 noon on 28 June 2019, please check this website (https://www.traffordgscemc.co.uk) regularly for any general announcements that affect all candidates.

Please be aware that the Test Centre your child is allocated to does not impact on your ability to choose which schools you wish your child to be considered for or the order in which you wish to place those schools on your home Local Authority Common Application Form.

If you have twins of different sexes sitting the Entrance Test and you wish them to be tested at the same Test Centre, please do not opt for Altrincham Grammar School for Girls as only girls will be tested there.

         You must complete this field.

Section 9.  Sharing results with the other Grammar Schools within the Trafford GS CEM Consortium.

Your child's test results can be considered by up to four Grammar Schools.  Please list below those Grammar Schools you would like to consider your child's results.

Your Preferred Test Centre must be one of your share schools.

Requests for shares are not in preference order. They are all treated equally.  You express your preference on the Local Authority Common Application Form (CAF) which you must complete after you have received your child's results.

Excessive sharing complicates the results process for parents so please only share with Grammar Schools that you would realistically consider your child attending.

Please note that Altrincham Grammar School for Girls is a girls only school in Year 7.  Boys are not eligible to apply for a place in Year 7.

You must answer Yes or No for each school.

You must include your Preferred Test Centre as one of your shares

Section 10.  Children in Care (Looked After Child)

This is NOT asking if you look after your child.

This is asking if your child is currently in Public Care or has previously been in Public Care.

Children previously in Public Care are children who were in Public Care and ceased to be so because they were adopted or became subject to a Residence Order or Special Guardianship Order.

If you answer 'Yes' to this question you will need to provide evidence from the current or previous Care Authority or a copy of the Adoption Certificate or appropriate Court Order.

You must provide written evidence to your allocated Test Centre before your child sits the Entrance Test.

The Grammar Schools are not responsible for collecting or requesting the evidence.

Is your child a "Looked After Child" as defined by the Act?

Please read the notes above before you answer this question.

You must answer this question Yes or No

Section 11.  Pupil Premium

This applies to Altrincham Grammar School for Girls, Stretford Grammar School and Urmston Grammar only.

Please check with your child's current Primary School to find out if your child currently qualifies for the Pupil Premium.

If you answer "yes" to this question, you will have to provide proof when requested.

If you have any further questions please contact Altrincham Grammar School for Girls or Stretford Grammar School or Urmston Grammar as appropriate.

Is your child currently in receipt of the Pupil Premium at their Primary School?

If you leave this blank it will default to No.

Section 12.  Registering for Entrance Tests at schools who are not part of the Trafford Grammar Schools’ CEM Consortium.

The Trafford Grammar Schools’ CEM Consortium share their Entrance Test with schools outside their geographical area.

Should you register your child to sit the Entrance Test at one of these schools and their test date is earlier than 16 September 2019 your child will be required to sit the earlier test and their scores with be shared with the schools you have indicated above.

This information may not be known until after the close of registration and all the information has been checked for all schools.

If this applies to your child you will be contacted as soon as the information has been confirmed and your child will be allocated to the test centre which is testing earlier regardless of where the test centre is geographically.  This is to ensure the integrity of the testing process and no exceptions will be made.

Please consider this carefully especially if the school outside the Trafford area is testing on Saturday 14 September 2019 and this clashes with another Trafford School testing on 14 September 2019.  No alternative dates will be offered until after 1 March 2020 and it will be for you to decide what is in the best interests of your child.

In previous years the number of candidates where this applies has been relatively low but the Trafford Grammar Schools’ CEM Consortium do not want this to come as a surprise after registration has closed.

If you wish to check if this could apply to your child please send an email to admin@traffordgscemc.co.uk before you register giving details of all the other schools testing on 14 September 2019 where you intend to register your child and the Trafford Grammar Schools’ CEM Consortium will advise you if this is likely to affect your child.  This check is entirely optional but the allocation of Test Centre will be applied as outlined above.

Terms and Conditions and Consent

I/We have parental responsibility for the above named child.

(If not, the Parent/Carer with Parental Responsibility has given permission for me/us to complete the form on their behalf and the Parent/Carer with Parental Responsibility will forward a letter of authority to the Admissions Officer at the school you have selected in Section 8 above within five days of submitting this form or by 12 noon on Friday 28 June 2019 whichever comes first.  If this authority is not received by the deadline the registration will be cancelled.  Only those with Parental Responsibility can authorise registration for the Entrance Test.

I/We wish my/our child to be registered to sit the Entrance Test on the morning of Monday 16 September 2019.

You must submit this registration form by 12 noon on Friday 28 June 2019.

I/We agree to supplying a photograph of my/our child for the Attendance Form and having it authorised by their present school. The Attendance Form, complete with photograph and present school authorisation, MUST be brought with your child to the testing process; a failure to meet this requirement will result in a refusal to admit your child to the testing process.

In the unlikely event of a candidate sitting the same test at more than one centre, the first result ONLY will count.

I/We understand that giving false or intentionally misleading information will mean the withdrawal of the offer of a school place within the Trafford Grammar Schools’ CEM Consortium.

IMPORTANT NOTE - PROOF OF SUBMISSION

If your form has been successfully submitted you will be taken to a “Proof of Submission” page.  This will display your child’s name, a unique Proof of Submission number and the date and time that the form was submitted.  You MUST print or photograph this page.  In the event of any dispute regarding the submission of your on-line registration form you will need to send us this page as evidence. Without it we will not investigate any claims that an on-line form has been submitted.  Please do not wait until registration has closed before you contact us.  We cannot help if we do not know there is a problem.  No extensions or exceptions to the registration deadline will be considered.  If you experience problems you must email us before 12 noon on Friday 28 June 2019 giving full details of the problem.  If you have your “Proof of Submission” (and you have printed or photographed it as advised) rest assured that your registration form has been submitted successfully.

I / We confirm that we have read and understood Section 6 concerning Special Needs and Disabilities and accept that the responsibility for supplying all supporting evidence to the school you have chosen in Section 8 by 12 noon on Friday 28 June 2019 rests with me / us.
